What Is Kidney Donation?
Kidney donation is the process in which a healthy person donates one of their two kidneys, or a deceased
person donates their kidneys after brain death, to save the life of a patient suffering from end-stage kidney
failure. Humans are born with two kidneys, but a person can live a completely healthy and normal life with
just one kidney.
For patients with advanced kidney disease, dialysis can only support life temporarily. A kidney transplant is
the only permanent and life-restoring treatment. At Before Death Foundation (BDF), we work to spread correct
knowledge about kidney donation and remove fear, myths, and misinformation.
